Damon Heta managed to win against Brendan Dolan in a solid display averaging 97.8 with two 180's and a high checkout of 152 en route at the
International Darts Open 6-3.
For Heta, it is about grinding out the wins this year without potentially having the form he had in 2022.
"I had it too easy last year in that I was playing well and getting wins without pressure. Everything felt easy but now I'm not averaging 100+ every game, so I have to learn to grind games and win no matter what the cost is," said Heta to Online Darts.
He was also asked about The Ashes and received some mid interview words from referee Russ Bray.
"I've got one ticket to the first day at Headingley and I could probably get the first day at Lords, that's the way that the schedule is sort of let me be but it was a bit pricey. Thought may as well sit at a bar and watch it."
"I'm definitely looking forward to that," before being interrupted by Bray who told him Australia won't win the Ashes. "Have a word with yourself, take yourself outside and give yourself a spanking, what's wrong with you."
