Heta, Whitlock and Mathers mark World Series invite with most wins by Australian players in a Players Championship tournament

Damon Heta, Simon Whitlock and Gordon Mathers were all invited to the World Series of Darts back home in Australia and New Zealand during August and all three had their best run as a trio together on Sunday at the Players Championship.

Heta of course tops the Players Championship Order of Merit and has been one of the most dominant forces on the ProTour so this was no surprise.

Albeit for Simon Whitlock, it was a welcome return to the latter stage alongside his housemate, Gordon Mathers who will look to defend his Tour Card this year and has had a welcome boost in his quest.

Their combined 13 games won together is the most wins by Australian players in a Players Championship since Tour Cards were brought in.
