INTERVIEW: Van Duijvenbode speaks ahead of European Q-School: "It is perhaps the toughest ever this year"

Dirk van Duijvenbode will be one of many set to compete starting today in Hildesheim for a coveted PDC Tour Card for the next two years.

Van Duijvenbode lost his Tour Card at the end of last year and will be part of the 331 player field and believes that if he uses his experience, he will claim a Tour Card.

“I'm not really going there tense. In recent years I have already gained the necessary experience in the PDC and therefore I assume that if I throw it right I will win a Tour Card ”, says Van Duijvenbode in an interview with DartsNews.com.

A lot of people call Q-School a lottery but 'Titan' doesn't believe that's the case with him saying for the most part it's good players coming through. “I don't entirely agree with that. Of course there is a theoretical chance that you will be lucky enough to take a Tour Card, but when you see the winners of the past years, they are almost all very good players. ”

In terms of his past experience, Van Duijvenbode admitted that it stands for nothing as he didn't manage to keep his Tour Card. "Yes and no. Of course I have the experience of two years ago, but I have not managed to keep my Tour Card in recent years. So it is not that I stand out enormously above the rest. Moreover, Q-School is perhaps the toughest ever this year. ”

He also spoke about his last two years on the tour and said that despite him losing his Tour Card, he was happy with his final year. “Certainly my first year was definitely not good, I am actually satisfied with my second year, although the results did not always follow. I played quite a lot of good matches but luck wasn't always on my side. "

In terms of a back up plan, Van Duijvenbode admitted that he will play the Dutch Open if he doesn't gain a Tour Card and that he will play secondary tour events despite having the ultimate goal in mind.

“I registered for the Dutch Open anyway. If I do not get my Tour Card, I will certainly participate. After that, I plan to certainly play in most of the Challenge Tour and European tournaments. But my number one priority is definitely to get that Tour Card. "
