Surviving a late comeback,
Josh Rock surged past 'Flyers'
Richard Veenstra on the final day of the
German Darts Grand Prix in a 6-5 win and is into the final session.
By hitting 91, 64 and 70, Rock gained a 3-1 lead in the early stages. With a 14-darter and a 19-darter Veenstra then came back to 3-3. However, Rock then managed to take another break lead.
The Northern Irishman scored a 126 finish to make it 4-3 before doubling his lead with a 17-darter. Veenstra then managed to re-establish himself and came back to 5-5 thanks to an 11-darter, before starting the final leg himself. However, the Dutchman threw four scoring innings without a treble, after which Rock was able to take the victory with a 17-darter.
Earlier in the afternoon
Ross Smith also qualified for the third round of this Euro Tour tournament. The former European Championship winner proved too strong for
Brendan Dolan with 6-1.
