Jermaine Wattimena secured a shock spot in the last sixteen at the
German Darts Grand Prix in Munich. In the second round, 'The Machine Gun' caused a surprise by eliminating
Stephen Bunting.
A key moment in the match was the fourth leg, in which Bunting missed six chances to make it 2-2. However, Wattimena also had the necessary misses in that leg and took advantage of his sixth break opportunity. Moments later the darter from Westervoort scored a 20-darter to make it 4-2. Wattimena then stepped up a gear and made it 6-2 after a 12-darter and a 76 finish.
Chris Dobey also secured a spot on the final day of the German Darts Grand Prix. 'Hollywood' broke his opponent Krzysztof Ratajski in the third leg via double 10 and then held that break. With a 16-darter in the tenth leg, Dobey put a 6-4 final score on the scoreboard.
Ryan Joyce was able to win after a rock-solid match against
Ricardo Pietreczko, who could only take one leg in front of his own crowd. Joyce won 6-1 thanks to an average of 102.88 and a finishing percentage of 60 percent.
