Nick Kenny competed in the recent PDC World Darts Championship reaching the second round losing to Jermaine Wattimena 3-1.
This saw Kenny reach a stage he never did in the BDO World Darts Championship but there was a Welsh winner in the end with
Gerwyn Price taking home the Sid Waddell Trophy.
Speaking to Tungsten Tales, the Newport ace discussed the perception of Price and how he has helped him settle in to his first year on the PDC ProTour.
"I wouldn't say we're best friends but we have a little Welsh table when we're on tour. First weekend I remember Gezzy playing local super league and beating us all. He played a handful of games and he was averaging 30+ every game he played local tournaments. I always have a joke with him that I have a better record against him because I used to beat him quite a lot when he started out. From day one when we went to Barnsley, he said I'll give you a lift home, I haven't seen him for so many years but he's been so welcoming," said Kenny to Tungsten Tales.
"He's not what everyone thinks he is on TV, he's quite quiet. He needs that aggression to play. People have their opinions of him and it's just like you don't know him, the perception side of it is not the best to be honest. He's perceived to be something he's not."
"He's been the best player this year by a mile, I've watched him and thought that's the level I want to be at now."
