Kleermaker angry with himself after European Championship defeat against Petersen: "It shouldn't happen at this level"

Martijn Kleermaker was eliminated by Devon Petersen in the second round of the European Championship on Friday afternoon. Despite a good start for the Dutchman, he lost his lead and went on to lose to 'The African Warrior'.

Kleermaker won four of the first five legs but from there, he was 6-4 behind. He recovered but Petersen stole another break and went on to win.

''I took a 4-1 lead without playing that well, but couldn't hit a treble in the second session. It was very poor and I lost that session 5-0 and then you are 6-4 behind. Unnecessary and shouldn't happen at this level.''

''I'm certainly not satisfied. Although I'm not very easily satisfied, because you always play to win of course. If you lose a game, then I'm angry with myself. It is great fun if you beat Rob Cross yesterday (Friday), but that's worth nothing now.''

Kleermaker started the tournament as the number 80 on the PDC Order of Merit, but will find himself back on the 73th place after the European Championship. “The upward trend is good. It's going better then expected in my first year, which is a good thing anyway.''
