Kleermaker wants to perform at World Championship: 'It's a draw with potential'

Almost twelve months after his debut at the BDO World Championship, Martijn Kleermaker will make his first appearance in Alexandra Palace in December.

The Dutchman moved to the PDC in January and had a very decent first year on the tour. He played three majors already and also qualified with ease for the PDC World Darts Championship.

He will take on Cameron Carolissen in the first round. The Dutch Giant doesn't know his South African opponent, but gives himself a good chance to reach the second round.

''I don't know him at all. I have a South African teammate, so maybe he can try to get information about him but I don't think so. It's a draw with potential, as it could be a lot heavier. On paper this should not be a problem'', he said after the draw to RTL 7.

With a good draw in the first round and Danny Noppert as possible opponent in round two, there are chances for Kleermaker to get a good run at his first appearance in Alexandra Palace.

That are exactly his plans, as he doesn't want to make up the numbers. ''I'm not going to just take part. My goal is to win some matches and to get as far as possible. I have battered a few big names already this year and there is room for more of this.''
