Nico Kurz is close to securing his spot in the German Super League play-offs after an excellent Saturday saw him right in contention.
Kurz, who is well known for his previous brilliance in the World Championship could confirm his spot in the event in the next week after winning all three matches during the third matchday of Group B.
He defeated Karsten Koch (6-3), Maik Langendorf (6-1) and Dragutin Horvat (6-3), the latter himself falling from 1st to 4th. Kurz as a result went from third to the top spot with only one more day to go.
Daniel Klose, Manfred Bilderl and Dragutin Horvat are currently still in the top four with Klose in particular being the nearest to securing his spot. This means there is two up for grabs on Sunday.
Sixteen participants are divided into two groups. Spread over four match days, a player from a specific group will play twice against the other players from his group. This means that everyone will play fourteen group matches.
The top four of each group will advance to the quarter-finals. These will be played just like the semi-finals and the final on Sunday June 14. The winner of this event will receive an invitation to the World Championship.
