Steve Lennon as a player was on an upward curve before Coronavirus hit and like many players, the period where darts has changed exponentially has affected him.
Lennon spoke to DartsNews.com about how he has coped with the ever changing nature of the darts world over the last 18 months.
"It has taken a lot of getting used to, it's not easy over in Ireland as there hasn't been an Irish tournament of an sorts for the last 18months with everything closed over here with restrictions. I've been lucky enough that at least the pdc events have been going on and it's great to have still been able to play during this time," said Lennon to DartsNews.com.
'Mentally draining' Covid bubble
For the Carlow ace, he said that like many players while the Covid bubbles were put together well that it has been 'mentally draining' and he was glad for a return of sorts to normality recently at Barnsley.
"The Covid bubble was done very well by the PDC but at the same time I found it more mentally draining being in the bubble though. On days when you weren't playing well in pre covid times you could at least go clear your ahead away from the venue to start back fresh again the next day.
"Unfortunately that was hard to have any switch off time when you're stuck in the same place for the week long events so I'm quite glad things have started to normalise and we seem to be heading back to the old ways of Pro Tour setups."
Form this year
This links to his form this year with some good runs at the start of the year and for Lennon, he has felt the effects also of the gaps between action.
"The massive gaps in the calendar and unpredictability of restrictions really didn't do me any good, I was in good form up to and including the pro tour events which took place in Germany in April but the long gap of no competition between then and June really didn't help me.
"I feel it affected me massively in match sharpness which then affected any confidence I did have. I've slowly started to come back into a little bit of form now so confidence is starting to get there."
