Wayne Mardle ran his rule over the World Matchplay with the semi-finals taking place this evening and leaving a 'fascinating' complexion with a potential Gerwyn Price - Michael van Gerwen showpiece albeit with Danny Noppert and Dimitri van den Bergh proving their worth to potentially stop them.
"It's been brutal, it's been hard work for every one that has got through. When you look at Van Gerwen, he's got better in this event. Gerwyn Price has got better, Danny Noppert as well has shown that he's got this steal about him. When he did the 180 against Daryl Gurney, it's like don't try to intimidate me pal. Dimitri van den Bergh, a former winner and beats Peter Wright," he said on Sky Sports.
"Coming into this I'm thinking negatives about two players that was Price and Van Gerwen. Negatives now? No. They've never met in a Sky Sports final. It sounds like I'm lying."
"If Danny Noppert has a phase like he did during the second session against Dirk (van Duijvenbode). He'll find himself in trouble. Dimitri van den Bergh has been more consistent than Van Gerwen but Van Gerwen is getting better. it's fascinating."
"If they all play well, Van Gerwen wins. He's the best player in the world when everyone's on."
