Jose De Sousa capped a fairy tale nine days to beat James Wade and win the Grand Slam of Darts on his tournament debut, to become the first Portuguese player to win a PDC major televised title ๐ต๐น๐
Wayne Mardle as part of Sky Sports coverage of the Grand Slam of Darts Final spoke afterwards about Jose de Sousa and said he showed true bottle to win the Eric Bristow Trophy.
De Sousa defeated James Wade in a brilliant victory on Tuesday night and he said that qualifying for these events no mind winning them shows how good he is.
"For those that follow darts and are streaming online, they've seen him many times but to qualify for these events is difficult. To go on and make the latter stages is really difficult, to win one, personally I found impossible. But it really is such a tough ask,"
"You've got to be made of stern stuff to win these events. You can be good enough, you can have the ability to win matches, to win Championships is totally different. You have to believe."
"It was a joy to watch. I feel quite privileged to be a part of seeing it. It's a real nice story."
