"My father used to win regularly over Raymond van Barneveld" - Dimitri Van den Bergh recalls memories of father Chris' darts career

Dimitri Van den Bergh has been at the top of the darts world for several years. The 29-year-old Belgian has inherited the good genes from his father.

After all, father Chris Van den Bergh also used to be a more than deserving darter. "Indeed, my father and Raymond van Barneveld used to play against each other a lot and my father certainly won regularly," Dimitri said to the podcast 'Double Top'. "Raymond didn't like playing against him because he knew how good my father was. And that's saying something, after all, Raymond was also a great champion at that time."

However, Van den Bergh senior's career came to an abrupt end. "In a car accident, someone was so drunk and aggressive that my father had to defend himself. As a result, he suffered a serious injury and he never fully recovered from that," Dimitri concluded.
