"The criticism doesn't bother me. Those people don't have to pay my bills" - Dimitri Van den Bergh rising above the haters

Dimitri Van den Bergh is quite the showman when he takes to the stage, even having a trademark dance during his walk-on.

Still, he does not retain fond memories of that edition of the Dutch Darts Masters. "I was then still together with a girl from Tilburg, she came specially to watch, but I lost 6-0 to Mervyn King," he recalls ruefully. "I did keep that walk-on song in the years since and am still very happy with it. The accompanying dance is also ideal for getting the tension out of my body before a competition."

"Obviously it has become part of my image by now. Most people like it, some of them don't, but those people are mostly extremely jealous. The criticism doesn't bother me either, those people don't have to pay my bills."
