Danny Noppert has withdrawn from the 2022 Masters which is due to take place between January 28-30, but will remain in the Netherlands ahead of the birth of his first child.
Noppert recently caught COVID-19 on his way back to the Netherlands after the World Darts Championship and isn't going to risk travelling to the UK for the season opener.
Under PDC rules, the next player in the PDC Order of Merit steps up which is Simon Whitlock who will now face Dirk van Duijvenbode in the first round.
