PDC potentially set to return when '75 percent of players can be present'

At the moment, the only darting action we will see is in online darts and difficult decisions have to be made about when the PDC circuit will resume.

This is due to in many cases especially in the UK where most tournaments are based, travel restrictions are yet to be lifted meaning that those arriving have to isolate for 14 days; with that method only implemented recently.

This means that potentially either the PDC has to play domestic based tournaments; or wait until those from countries such as Germany, Holland and further afield can return to play.

“In tennis, it has been decided that the tournaments will continue as soon as 75 percent of the players can be present. We have not yet made up our minds about this, but we may well base ourselves on this, ”said PDC CEO Matt Porter on the RTL7 Bullseye Podcast.

"I agree with this, although I would rather increase the percentage to 90 percent," said Jacques Nieuwlaat , who is a board member of the players' union.

“It is difficult not to restart because a few players cannot be present. These are in any case difficult decisions that have to be made, which you also notice in other sports. When a decision is made, as always, there are winners and losers, you cannot avoid it."
