Diogo Portela will be involved once again in this year's World Cup of Darts taking place in Hamburg next week and ahead of that he has spoke to DartsNews about representing his country, his new partner as well as his current form away from the tournament.

Portela said that for him he has a long standing history with representing his country; also that it is always an event now Brazil are involved that he looks forward to.
'It's always a pleasure to represent your country,' said Portela to DartsNews.com
'I used to represent Brazil in the WDF World Cup and Americas Cup; so I've always represented my country then I had a four year gap when I wasn't representing my country because I didn't play the qualifiers for Brazil; so I think the first year the PDC (World Cup) invited me back was great because I was representing my country again.'
'I always look forward to being in the event; it's very good. It's something I'm really proud of and something I feel I've earned,' he continued.
'Brazilliant' has a new partner for this year in Artur Valle; he has given his thoughts on him ahead of the duo taking to the stage for the first time to face off against Sweden.
'He's won more majors than anyone else in Brazil, he's quite experienced and he's represented Brazil previously at the WDF World Cup. I'm very confident with him in the team.'

Competing in the BDO

He has competed in some events away from the PDC; with him not having a Tour Card due to just missing out again at Q-School and he said that he's glad that there was the rule change. 'I am glad of the rule change and that's good for me because I'm not PDC or BDO I am a darts player.' 'While before if you didn't qualify for the World Grand Prix and World Series you didn't play darts; I now have the opportunity to play darts so if I would have got my Tour Card, I couldn't have played in the Scottish Open, the West Fries Open.' 'It was a little easier with the European Tours on the way; but I am back now and am playing Selsey after the World Cup. I am playing in Luxembourg, Sweden; I am probably going to play all of them if I can really.' Photo: Pieter Verbeek/PV-Darts
