Porter on 2021 Premier League lineup and tenth 'to be confirmed' player: "We found it very difficult to pick a tenth obvious player"

As well as the 2021 World Championship Final, there was also the matter of the Premier League Darts line-up but like life and darts as a whole over the past year, it has a different feel to it.

With the format reverting to ten players, PDC Chief Executive Matthew Porter was on hand to deliver the line-up albeit with only nine out of 10 players confirmed.

The start will also be delayed till at least Easter time with the PDC planning to hopefully get fans in if restrictions allow or the Covid-19 vaccination allows social distancing to be lifted.

He discussed that on Sky Sports after the final as well as revealing that there was not a tenth obvious player to pick for the Premier League line-up which is why they have only announced nine.

"In view of current regulations and the fact that we feel that the Premier League Darts is an event which deserves a full arena as much as every other event does, it thrives off the energy and atmosphere that they create. We'll be looking to delay the start of the Premier League till around Easter time so we can hopefully start to get fans back into the arenas," said Porter to Sky Sports.

"Obviously we're in not just the UK, the four nations but the Republic of Ireland, Netherlands and Germany so seven different jurisdictions, seven different sets of regulations."

"We found it very difficult to pick a tenth obvious player. There's been a lot of players who have shown on their day what they can deliver but perhaps nobody else who has done it consistently or managed to pick up one of those major trophies."
