Portugal set for World Cup of Darts debut as Singapore withdraw due to restrictions

Portugal will field a team in the World Cup of Darts for the first time this weekend in Salzburg replacing Singapore in the field.

Due to regulations in Singapore, Harith Lim is unable to travel due to Austria being a country currently in lockdown and Singapore not allowing anybody back in from a country currently under these restrictions.

As per the Weekly Dartscast, Lim had already had his swab test and had agreed to quarantine in a government facility when he returned but due to the regulations, he is unable to travel which in turn affects Hong Kong based Paul Lim meaning the former Quarter-Finalists are unable to join the line-up.

A team led by 'The Special One' Jose de Sousa will now take to the stage in Salzburg alongside Jose Marques who competed at Q-School earlier this year.

The recent first time European Tour winner had recently spoke at the European Championship revealing that they were first reserve and he was waiting to see but he has now got his wish to represent his country. They will face Hungary.

Also there has been further news for Spain and China respectively who will now have altered line-ups. Cristo Reyes will not take his place alongside Toni Alcinas in their usual pairing.

But instead Jesus Noguera who made an impression recently on the European Tour and is currently their sole representative at the World Championship will make his debut.

Also Zizhao Zheng who recently lost out in the World Championship qualifier semi-finals to Qingyu Zhan will replace Xicheng Han for China to partner Di Zhuang.
