Priestley reveals motivation after not being included in first ever Premier League Darts

Dennis Priestley made his Premier League debut back in 2007 playing well in the opening weeks before losing some of that early form but enough to cement a semi-final place.

At the age of 57, he is one of the oldest debutants in Premier League history and he spoke to the Weekly Dartscast recently about being involved in the tournament; as well as living up to a previous promise.

"I was very disappointed to not be included in the first one. That gave me the motivation to be quite honest. I told everybody I'm going to get back up the rankings now and make sure I'm in this next Premier League, I did exactly what I said I was going to do. I got myself back up to World Number Four so they couldn't ignore me. That's what I did," said the former three time World Champion.

"The memories were how tiring it was because we were still doing travelling to tournaments at the weekend. We'd done these tournaments and we'd probably get home on the Monday; We were packing our bags to go to the Premier League on a Wednesday."
