The
Dutch Darts Championship is underway in Rosmalen with
Ritchie Edhouse,
Dom Taylor and home hopes Marvin van Velzen as well as Dutch born Swede
Jeffrey de Graaf through to Saturday's action in Holland.
Edhouse perhaps wasn't at his brilliant best with more of a win that was ground out instead of ton plus heroics. But the power scoring was still on full evidence as he saw off Jiri Brejcha 6-3 in the end averaging 84. He hit six 180's during the clash with his doubles the reasoning for a low average. He struggled at times with 6/24. But his opponent who hit 3/24 had chances but didn't take them with his average sat around the 79 mark in defeat.
De Graaf on the other hand in technically a Nordic and Baltic clash saw off Madars Razma. He averaged 91 in a 6-3 win. In comparison to the Edhouse win, it was very much clinical double was the name of the game for both really. The former hit 6/8 on the outer ring with a high checkout of 110. While Razma in defeat didn't disgrace himself either with 42.9% (3/7) as well as two ton plus checkouts including a 152 checkout.
Dom Taylor also impressed with the Englishman averaging 102.26 in taking down Jose de Sousa 6-3. A superb display from 'The Tower' to topple the Special One and he was joined by Dutchman, Marvin van Velzen. In an all Dutch affair, he saw off Christian Kist narrowly 6-5. On his
European Tour debut, it was a hotly contested clash. He averaged 86 to Kist's 85.96 albeit both were fairly poor on the outer ring meaning a tense clash until the end. But one that Van Velzen prevailed in.
