Josh Rock's darting rise will be one of the main stories going into this year's PDC
World Darts Championship and it sees the 21-year-old go from just over a year ago showing promise in a WDF tournament to now being one of the favourites for the PDC World Darts Championship.
He recounts his story for Sky Sports ahead of the showpiece tournament which kicks off on December 15.
"I'm here to do what I'm meant to do. I love darts and I've loved the game since I was a young boy," said Rock as per Sky Sports.
"Darts has always been a part of my life, ever since I was two years old because of my dad who started playing the game when I was born.
"My hero has always been Gary Anderson and I finally got to speak with him a few weeks ago. He was saying 'we only get to meet in the toilets, so we might as well talk outside of them'.
"When I first got my Tour Card and walked into the room I was overwhelmed but now I talk to Gary like he's a normal person."
But now he will aim to reach the top of the sport with two big ambitions high up on his agenda which he believes he can reach during his career.
"I'll go all the way. I know I can, but it will take time," he said. "Nothing happens overnight but I'll do my best to be the best and world champion. My job is to beat the board and that's all I can do."
"There's no point playing darts or any sport if you don't believe. I want to be world No 1 and I want to be world champion," added Rock.
"Everybody says I've got an old head on young shoulders but I'm happy that I'm that way.
"To learn to win you have to beat the big boys but I have a lot of years in this game left."
