Michael van Gerwen has warned Josh Rock not to get too carried away amid the current hype surrounding the Northern Irishman heading into the World Darts Championship.
Rock and Van Gerwen played out a superb match at the Grand Slam of Darts but at the time, MVG shunned the comparisons between them and said that he had won titles and also now has the mental scars.
"Josh Rock is a phenomenal player but you also have to put things in perspective. He's not been on the tour for long and he doesn't have any scars yet," said Van Gerwen as per Sky Sports.
"If you judge him on standards, then yes he's got a lot of potential. If I compare him to myself, I was doing a lot of things what he's doing now when I was 15 or 16 so that's the difference, but he's got everything to make it into the top 10."
