Sparidaans recalls special story of facing darting idol: "I won three times, he said he didn't want to play me anymore"

Viaplay met some new Dutch PDC Tour Card holders during the UK Open. Jeffrey Sparidaans, among others, was allowed to sit down for an interview with reporter Arjan van Giessen.

Among other things, Sparidaans told that he is not a full-time darter. ''I work as a landscaper and in between I also have to play some darts.''

He also had a special story about his idol. ''That's Gary Anderson. At an exhibition tournament, I was allowed to throw a dart once and I always won against Gary Anderson. After I won three times against Anderson, he said he didn't want to play against me anymore,'' Sparidaans laughed.

About his goal in his first stint as a Tour Card holder, Sparidaans was clear. ''The goal is to make the top-64 within two years. For the rest, we'll see.''
