Superb Sherrock defeats De Graaf to win inaugural PDC Women's World Matchplay

Fallon Sherrock can add the PDC Women's World Matchplay to her list of trailblazing achievements so far in her career with the 28-year-old winning the inaugural title on Sunday afternoon at the Winter Gardens.

After surviving a scare against Katie Sheldon in her opener, she saw off Lorraine Winstanley and then Aileen de Graaf in the final with an 82 average, high checkout of 142 and as well as the trophy seals her return to the Grand Slam of Darts where she reached the Quarter-Finals last year.

Sherrock missed two darts for the opening leg off 78 and De Graaf held throw with a 100 checkout. The former then missed the bull for an 87 checkout to hold and make it 1-1 but returned for a 25 checkout to level.

She took the first break from there with an 86 checkout at 2-1. Sherrock had a superb leg including a 180 but faltered on the doubles and De Graaf picked her pocket for 2-2.

A clinical 48 checkout saw De Graaf consolidate and make it 3-2. A 142 checkout saw Sherrock seal parity at 3-3.

But missed a 52 checkout which allowed De Graaf a chance at 75 but double 20 was missed and Sherrock returned for trusty double four to make it 4-3.

A 66 checkout saw Sherrock hold and go one away at 5-3. An 85 checkout saw her seal it from there.
