Telnekes on drawing Kenny at PDC World Championship: "I know him from the BDO days. He's a very good player"

Derk Telnekes will make his PDC World Championship debut when he takes on Nick Kenny in a clash between two former BDO stars.

For Telnekes, despite never playing a competitive game against the Welshman, he knows what to expect.

"Of course I know Kenny from the BDO days. I've seen him play a few times and I've seen what kind of player he is. He's a very good player," said Telnekes to RTLnieuws.

"The level is a lot higher than the BDO. You know that you have to work hard every match."

"I reached a semi-final and a quarter-final, and then Coronavirus started and we stood still. Fortunately, we are now through that."

The Dutchman is looking forward to playing especially with the news of fans at the Alexandra Palace: “I'm going to enjoy it and just let it come to me. I like to be motivated a bit. Better than being dead quiet in the hall."

"I just want to play my game, throw good averages and feel good. But of course I will be happy if I win one or two rounds, that would be nice. Ideally you just want to win."
