The 2023 World Cup of Darts sees an adapted format. Exclusively pairs matches throughout the tournament and a new group stage. These factors will encourage more shocks according to Damon Heta.
Heta was victorious at the World Cup of Darts last year alongside Simon Whitlock for Australia. The fact it's now pairs matches throughout shouldn't be a disadvantage to the Aussies. Last year they came within the width of a wire from hitting the first, televised, pairs nine-darter.
“The best of seven legs format is cut-throat, but it’s great for the other nations," Heta explains to the official websiteof the PDC. "They have a chance to prove themselves. I think it’s going to be great.”
