Van den Bergh ends Burnett's fairytale UK Open run to seal last semi-final spot in Minehead

Four players remain in the draw shortly for the semi-finals of the 2023 UK Open in Andrew Gilding, Michael van Gerwen, Adam Gawlas and Dimitri van den Bergh with the Belgian the last to seal his progression ending a fairytale run for Richie Burnett.
After a superb weekend, 'The Dreammaker' proved too good for Burnett who as ever entertained but lost heavily 8-2.
He doubled his lead early on against Burnett with a second 180 and a 106 checkout. Burnett finally got off the mark but only after surviving a dart for 5-0 but the nightmare continue after the interval.
Burnett hit his first 180 but missed a dart at double 10 and Van den Bergh continued to ease through at 8-1.
A 180 and double 12 saw Van den Bergh seal it with Burnett finally getting a second leg on the board but wasn't enough for a comeback as the Belgian eases through.

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
