Adam Gawlas has joined Andrew Gilding and Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals of the 2023
UK Open after sheer darting drama in Minehead.
He saw off Rob Cross 10-8 surviving a comeback from 'Voltage' who aimed to derail the Czech ace coming from 6-4 and 8-4 down but in the end, it was darting destiny for Gawlas.
He was superb to start the match and was averaging 115 as he took out a huge 164 checkout for 3-0.
At the interval, he'd hit six 180's in a 4-1 lead but Cross came back with three consecutive legs only to still go in at the interval two behind at 6-4.
Gawlas streaked away again at 8-4 with a 128 checkout but again Cross came back as Gawlas went off the boil to make it 8-7 and then parity.
But Gawlas stuck to the task and went to the brink at 9-8. Gawlas missed two match darts off 83 but Cross could not send it all the way. The Czech ace though was nervy and pulled all darts heavily inside for the win.
Cross split six but he missed again and Gawlas finally took the win for a first major semi-final last dart on double four.
