In the series "Elmars Neundarter" on the German channel DAZN famous darts are asked some questions. Dimitri van den Bergh was asked who his childhood idol was.
The Dream Maker tells that he has always been a big fan of Gary Anderson: "My idol before, when he still played in the BDO, was Gary Anderson. Then he went to the PDC and disappeared from view for me. I wondered then if he had retired, but no. Then they told me what the PDC was. I didn't know that at the time."
Having lost sight of the Scot, Van den Bergh turned his attention to Darryl Fitton. "A very cool person, together with Tony O'Shea," says the Belgian.
When he heard about the PDC, Van den Bergh started following it as well. "It was just crazy what Phil Taylor did. But apart from Phil Taylor, I was always a big fan of Gary Anderson. Because suddenly: 'Oh, this is where he plays now!'", Van den Bergh tells the fans with a twinkle in his eye.
