Van den Bergh on first nine-darter: "Was without me knowing it"

In the series "Elmars Neundarter" on DAZN, famous darters are asked some questions. One of them is Dimitri van den Bergh who tells about his first nine-darter.

"The first nine darter I hit was without me knowing it", Van den Bergh starts his story. He was together with a lot of friends on a small tournament in Holland. "There was a lot of talking during the match and meanwhile I threw 180 twice and a 141 finish. It was only then that the realisation came that I had thrown a perfect leg.''

"I go to the board and I say, 'Wait a minute!' I look around like this. Did anyone see that? Someone came up to me, 'Hey, awesome nine darter! I'm like, 'That was a nine-darter, right? Yeah, great. I didn't even think about it. And that was my very first nine-darter."
