Dirk van Duijvenbode had a pre-match tumble against Dylan Slevin and had to battle the pain barrier throughout his tie against the young Irishman but prevailed in style to send the crowd into a frenzy at the Dutch Darts Championship.
Van Duijvenbode edged past Slevin 6-5 with a 129 checkout in the deciding leg to claim it as he made light of it at the end of the match. Statistics wise, it was a 92 average and four 180's for the Dutchman.
He looked on the canvas at times with Slevin holding the lead at 4-3 and 5-4 respectively but Van Duijvenbode found a hold at 5-5.
After Slevin went off in multiple visits without a big treble, he was punished Van Duijvenbode returned for 129 using two double 18's for the win.
Luke Humphries was the other player to move through. The top seed closed out a 6-3 win over Ross Smith in one of the ties of the round with a 101.4 average and 60% on the doubles.
Humphries did so by winning five out of the last six legs to move through after a poor time of it in Graz last week, he will look to recover in Leeuwarden.
