Michael van Gerwen will not win the
Grand Slam of Darts for the third time in his career this week. Mighty Mike went down 16-10 against Luke Humphries in the quarterfinals.
Van Gerwen was bitterly disappointed afterwards. "This was totally unnecessary. I already didn't feel good in the preparation and started the match very badly. Afterwards I tried to get into my rhythm a bit, but it just didn't work out," Van Gerwen told Viaplay.
"This is tremendously sour," the 33-year-old Dutchman continued. "I kept going for it one hundred percent and didn't give up, but he also threw some high finishes at important moments. I really owe this defeat entirely to myself."
