On Tuesday it was announced that five top Dutch darts players (Michael van Gerwen, Raymond van Barneveld, Dirk van Duijvenbode, Vincent van der Voort and Danny Noppert) will from now on form the team TOTO Dart Kings. Van Gerwen reacts enthusiastically to this announcement.
"I feel good about it, otherwise I wouldn't be doing this", Van Gerwen opens to Dartsnews.com. "The whole framework is good, they are all people with knowledge in their field. Now it's about seeing how you can learn from each other and how you can improve yourself."
Van Gerwen realises that the whole project will take time. "The idea is to achieve what we want step by step. You also see in other sports that you can learn a lot from each other as a team."
Mighty Mike won the European Darts Open last weekend, already his third tournament victory on the European Tour this year. "I can't complain at all lately, things are going the way I want them to. It has taken a long time, I have come a long way, but I am finally back at the top. It can only get better from here, I also feel very good in my skin again."
