Michael van Gerwen was knocked out by Michael Smith (16-13) in the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam of Darts on Saturday evening .
Van Gerwen was obviously disappointed post match when talking to RTL7 at a missed opportunity.
"Certainly at the beginning of the match I missed too many opportunities on doubles and therefore let him come into the game. I can only blame myself for that and I am disappointed," said MVG to RTL7.
Plenty of opportunities
"It was hard work throughout the game," continued 'MVG'.
"It took a lot of effort, but I still got enough opportunities to pull the game towards me. After all, you know with Michael Smith that he always makes mistakes, he did that again despite the fact that he played a good game. However, if you can't take those chances, you don't deserve to be in the semi-finals."
