Michael van Gerwen reached the top of the
Premier League Darts table once more to end the latest block of action with an 8-3 win over James Wade.
This saw Van Gerwen average 107 and despite a 110 from Wade, he only allowed him seven darts at double throughout the whole tie.
"I can't really complain with my performance so far. Don't get me wrong for a good game like this, you need two good players that try to give everything and that's really important. To do the right things at the right moments against a player like James Wade is really important, it gives you confidence," said Van Gerwen post match.
"I feel comfortable, I feel good. When you play in games like this, it gives you energy and from there on you want to do even more."
But despite that, there are still aspects of his game that he is looking to improve going forward.
"I'm still not consistent enough. I always will be critical of myself because I can be happy now but there's still another four games to go so I need to make sure I need to keep my concentration and focus going to the next ones."
Going forward though, he is confident and sent a warning shot out to the rest of the field.
"They all know when I'm playing my game, I'm the best player even Gerwyn Price. They don't like to say that but it's fact. You need to believe in your own ability and not look behind you."
