Berry van Peer has qualified for the last sixteen at the
Dutch Darts Championship at the expense of
Jonny Clayton. 'Bionic' defeated the former Premier League champion after a deciding leg.
Van Peer was broken by the Welshman in the third leg after Clayton threw out 101. After that, the Dutchman stayed close to 'The Ferret' by keeping his own legs via two 15-darters, among others.
A chance for the rebreak came in the tenth leg after Clayton missed a matchdart on tops. He seized his chance with a 54 finish and then pulled off the deciding leg with a 17-darter in the 11th leg.
Earlier in the evening, Nathan Aspinall settled with Daryl Gurney. 'The Asp' turned a 2-3 deficit into a 4-3 lead before Gurney threw out 167 for 4-4. 'Superchin' then missed four chances for a break, however, before Aspinall kept his own leg via double 5. A 15-darter then saw Aspinall take the win.
