The South African won 4-2 over Diego Finnis in the quarter-finals and was then 5-1 too strong for Kendrick Koordom. In the final, Vermaak triumphed 6-4 against Dameon Steffens. By the way, Steffens had recorded the highest average of the tournament in the quarterfinals with 81.24.
Vermaak is not a total unknown on the PDC circuit. In 2022, he competed together with Devon Petersen at the World Cup of Darts. Then they lost 5-2 to Daniel Larsson and Johan Engström of Sweden in the first round.
