Whitlock doesn't expect a Premier League invite: 'I'm probably too old for them'

Simon Whitlock beat Krzysztof Ratajski 6-2 on Friday night in the first round of the 2021 Masters. The Wizard averaged 97.95 to The Polish Eagles’ 91.71. A result in which Simon Whitlock said he was “over the moon with”.

Speaking about the previous match against Ratajski at the World Championships last month, Whitlock claimed that he should not have switched from the darts that saw him beat Michael van Gerwen three times last year. “I’ve gone back to the Van Gerwen killers, I should never have used the new one’s (darts) at the World Championship, I made a big mistake there'', he told Online Darts.

With the tenth and final Premier League Darts spot up for grabs, Whitlock was asked if the Premier League carrot was something he had thought about? “I have (thought about it) I would like to be called up again but they probably don’t like me anymore, I'm probably too old for them, they (the PDC) are looking at the young guys really.”

Whitlock did fire a warning though to the likes of Van Gerwen and the other top players. “If I do get in there, look out all the players who I've smashed up like Van Gerwen and Wright.”
