Wright's Premier League didn't start in a similar vein though with 'Snakebite' inconsistent but he kicked that into gear by claiming back-to-back victories over Nathan Aspinall and Michael Smith.
As a result, he was gutted to have to stop his charge due to Coronavirus paying heed to both Premier League and Players Championship/European Tour events. Also he discussed his future ambitions and when he believes he will retire from the sport.
"I think this year the standard has gone mad, everyone is on it and everyone is playing well," said Wright.
"I was just starting to have a good run in the Premier League so I'm gutted it's stopped for now.
"It still sounds amazing to be announced as World Champion by John McDonald, it gives me an amazing buzz on the walk-on.
"I think if I had to retire tomorrow I would be happy with the career I've had, but I always want more and I've got a while to go yet."
