Peter Wright eased through in comfortable fashion against Danny Noppert with a 10-2 win to begin his World Matchplay campaign successfully.
Wright averaged 99.75 but lamented his display calling it 'garbage' and that he should be averaging upwards of 110.
"I played rubbish and Danny had lots of darts at double and let me off to be honest," said Wright post match.
"It should be over a ton easy, 110+ all the time. It should be, that's why I'm comfortable feeling in my game and if I've just dropped down to 99 playing garbage then the others are going to have to watch out."
Rivals and comments from Cullen
On his rivals, Wright said the only person who can stop him winning titles is himself.
"Myself and that's that. They've got to play well to get near me and that's it.
His next opponent Joe Cullen made comments about how Wright often ends up with 'egg on his face' due to saying he's going to do what he doesn't do but Wright took issue to those comments.
"I've come up with quite a few facts recently, last year and this year and I still stand by how I feel. I try and make them play their best like I done it with Kim Huybrechts years ago because I wanted him to play his best game. I wanted a good game to go on to the next round. I don't want to turn up playing rubbish, I want the guy playing well."
There is also always the questions on the setup he will use and he said he has only brought two sets with him for the duration in Blackpool.
"I only bought two darts with me this tournament and if I play my game, I blitz everybody."
