Xiaochen Zong crowned himself the winner on the second matchday of the China Premier League. With
Momo Zhou also the first woman ever at the World Cup of Darts making a statement.
The China Premier League is played according to the same format as the regular Premier League, which this year was won by Michael van Gerwen. Unlike the regular Premier League, the Chinese version only has nine instead of sixteen match days. After nine days of play, play-offs are played to determine the eventual winner.
Lihao Wen won the first day of play, but was defeated in the semi-finals on the second day of play by Xiaochen Zong. This two-time participant in the PDC World Championship defeated Wen with almost a hundred average. In the final Xiaochen Zong was too strong for Xicheng Han winning 5-3. The eventual winner of the China Premier League will receive an Ally Pally invite.
'Perfect' ten darter
Momo Zhou, who in 2018 became the first woman to participate in the World Cup of Darts, also made a name for herself.
More specifically in the China Serie A Premier League, where the 30-year-old threw a 10-darter in her quarterfinal against Jianjun Jia. Quite remarkable since she also had a dart fall out of the board in that same leg giving it the moniker of a 'perfect' 10 darter. Zhou eventually reached the final, where she lost to Hailong Chen. The next day of action in the China Premier League is scheduled for July 5.
