Van Gerwen aims for missing trophy in Leicester: 'It's one on my bucket list'

Michael van Gerwen has won all but one of the current majors in the PDC. Mighty Mike will get another chance this weekend to win the Champions League of Darts and complete his career slam.

The Dutchman came close in 2016, when he lost to Phil Taylor in the final. During the past two editions, Van Gerwen did not even reach the final at the Champions League of Darts. The world number one is determined to put things right in Leicester.

"I've never won this tournament before so it's an important tournament. It's one on my bucket list so I need to make sure I keep my focus," said Van Gerwen to pdc.tv.

"I'm very happy with how I played in the World Grand Prix and I was delighted to win that, and I want to keep that form going.

“I'm professional and I don't want to let myself down or my fans. I feel good, I'm a winner and I want to win every tournament that I play in.”
