Baker leads second group in Week 8 of MODUS League after Day One

Scott Baker made the best start in the second group on Thursday in the eighth week of the MODUS Online Live League.

Baker, who has held a PDC Tour Card for the past two seasons, won four of his five matches. The Mod lost his opening game against Josh McCarthy (4-3), but then beat Andy Jenkins (4-3), Paul Holloway (4-0), Colin Osborne (4-2) and Ryan Hogarth (4-0).

Osborne suffered his only defeat against Baker and finished second on leg difference. The two Englishmen have a two point lead over McCarthy, Holloway and Hogarth. Jenkins is last after the first day with two points.

The players in this group will play matches against each other on Thursday and Friday afternoon. The numbers one and two of this group will then go to the final group on Saturday.

In the evening sessions Robert Owen, Wayne Warren, James Richardson, Chas Barstow and Stephen Burton play each other twice in a group. Also in this group there are two spots available for Saturday. Arron Monk has already qualified for this final group by winning the first group this week.

Unlike the first edition of the Modus League in 2020, the game will not be played online via a webcam, but at a location in Southampton, England. The matches can be followed via the Online Darts YouTube channel.
