Monk wins first group in eighth week of MODUS League

Arron Monk won the first group in the eighth week of the MODUS Online Live League on Wednesday. The Englishman led after two days of play and collected just enough points on the third day to retain his lead.

Monk had his worst day in this group as he only won against Ryan Hogarth (4-1) and Scott Baker (4-3) and suffered defeats against Robert Owen (4-1), Wayne Warren (4-0) and Andy Jenkins (4-2). Owen was able to pass Monk in the standings, but Owen lost his final game against Jenkins (4-2). Warren remained unbeaten on Wednesday with five consecutive victories and moved up to third place in the standings.

With the final victory in this group, Monk is the first player to qualify for the final group, which will be played on Saturday. Owen and Warren will play a new group with Stephen Burton, Chas Barstow and James Richardson on Thursday and Friday night. The numbers one and two of this group also go to the final group.

The same goes for the numbers one and two from the new Group B. This group consists of Scott Baker, Andy Jenkins, Ryan Hogarth and the newcomers Paul Holloway, Colin Osborne and Josh McCarthy. They play their matches on Thursday and Friday morning.

Unlike the first edition of the Modus League in 2020, the game will not be played online via a webcam, but at a location in Southampton, England. The matches can be followed via the Online Darts YouTube channel.
