Van Gerwen "looking forward" to return of crowds at World Series of Darts Finals: "It's what I love to do"

Michael van Gerwen will look to add a fifth World Series of Darts Finals title this weekend when he begins action on Saturday against Friday's winners.

Van Gerwen returned to the winners' circle during the PDC Autumn Series with doubts swirling around about his current form after going out of the Premier League without a play-off tilt.

'Mighty Mike' spoke about the return of crowds at the Salzburgarena and admitted he cannot wait to have the fans back.

"I am looking forward to performing in front of a crowd again, it's what I love to do," said Van Gerwen.

"This tournament will feel special because it's been so long since we have played in front of a crowd and I think all the players will be excited for it.

"I haven't been in the best form recently but I am human and these things happen in darts.

"The main thing is to keep believing in yourself and the performances will come as they have before."
