Larry Butler coasted to victory reeling off nine legs without reply against Alan Warriner-Little in an impressive display from 'The Bald Eagle' as he began his
World Seniors Darts Championship quest.
"That was better than I was expecting actually. A lot of times I walk on a stage and it doesn't quite feel like the practice room, it was one of the few times it felt better than the practice room it was just exactly the way it should be," said Butler post match.
"I'm 64 so it's been a while since I've got to play in one of these type of events and I was really looking forward to it. At the moment, it's really beyond what I was hoping for."
He believes as well that playing regularly will help him compared to others.
"I think everybody's struggling to get a real game in or at least the last year and a half. The online stuff is fun but it's not the same.
As well as revealing that Warriner-Little who averaged in the 50's had an issue with his shoulder after he got to the oche which explained the out of sorts nature of his display.
"He was warming up great in the practice room. He told me after four darts, his shoulder went out on him, I felt bad for him."
