Des Jacklin has been reappointed as BDO Chairman in an interesting turn of events, it has been revealed today.
It was previously announced that Jacklin had
returned to the board in some capacity this past weekend after previously
quitting as chairman in March but his role for the time being was linked to finance.
Despite that though, this was likely to change at the next AGM; with a final decision set to come in relation to this. Now in a letter that has been sent out to counties this afternoon, it has been announced that; he has received a unanimous vote from the other directors to return to his previous role.
This comes after a tumultuous period for the BDO; with increased criticism coming on the organisation; mainly due to moving the BDO World Championship, issues with the World Masters, losing the support of the WDF who dropped all ranking points for their tournaments and with the lowest winners' cheque in the BDO Men's World Championship since 1989.
As a result, Jacklin came under increased call from players and sections of the darting community to resign and last month he did so releasing a
lengthy statement on his time in charge; but it seems like after he had a change of heart in returning to the organisation in a board position; he has had the same with the chairman's role.
