January usually sees the
BDO World Darts Championship played but due to a myriad of factors including the demise of the organisation, it will not be played. As a result, DartsNews takes a look back at memories from this showpiece tournament.
After a look at 1980, the focus shifts to 1981 and
Eric Bristow once more was in the final for the second consecutive year. He defeated Bobby George to win his first World title and now it was the turn of 1979 winner John Lowe, a polar opposite to the Crafty Cockney to battle him for the title.
Just like against George, he was 3-2 behind in the final against Lowe but claimed three sets in a row hitting double four to become World Champion for a second time.
