Aussie ace Cuming has to put Q-School plans on hold for another year

Mal Cuming is one of the standouts on the Australian circuit and has been for many years and has plans with a new darts manufacturer deal to move over and attempt to claim his Tour Card in 2022.

Cuming made his debut at the Lakeside in 2019 where he lost to fellow countryman Justin Thompson in the opening round.

"It was quite funny because I actually said to my fiancé before hand what's the bet that I draw Thommo. When the draw did come out I was a little bit shocked but not surprised either. Travelled all the way across the other side of the world to play darts and you end up playing your fellow teammate. We've probably played each other a dozen times or more, we are actually really good mates off the board," he said to the Inside the WDF podcast.

The 44-year-old Australian recently signed with Loxley Darts and will develop his own darts as a result.

"I'm looking for this year to have a big year on the Australian circuit, I want to push for the World Championship next year. I want to be over there with (James) Bailey, GG (Gordon Mathers) and the other guys. We did think earlier in the year about going to Q-School this year but obviously with Covid and everything else, we decided against that this year and put 2022 as our goal."
